Join us for a unique opportunity to sample the amazing cooking of one of the country’s up and coming young chefs. Alex Bond, who has worked in Michelin starred restaurants since the age of 19, honed his skills under the watchful eye of celebrated chefs such as Nottingham’s Sat Bains and Richard Turner, at his top Birmingham restaurant Turner’s as well as Abac in Barcelona and El Bulli in Catalonia.
After leaving Turners 14 months ago, Alex has held a series of one-off events to showcase his culinary skills celebrating fresh, seasonal produce. All of this in his quest to experiment with ideas for the menu for his own restaurant, due to open in Nottingham later in 2017.
Dishes have included combinations such as cauliflower and roasted yeast, and raspberry and fermented garlic. Alex said: “It’s about thinking outside the box! Everything has a reason – roasted yeast tastes like cheese, and fermented garlic tastes similar to liquorice, so we aren’t just putting random things together. Now I think people are looking for things they can’t make at home. Their expectations are higher than ever. It doesn’t mean we have to make obscure things but if something is out of the ordinary and done well then that ticks the boxes.”
On arrival at 7pm you will be welcomed to the sparkling reception, with the opportunity to admire the stunning views of the city’s skyline from the rooftop restaurant at EH15 and perhaps buy some raffle tickets. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm and will consist of five courses of exquisite dishes, designed to tantalise your tastebuds – all freshly prepared by Alex.

Dinner is £60 per person, with an optional complementary wine package available at £30 per person. The bar will be open throughout should you prefer to purchase drinks of your choice. How your support will help
This is a one off event, before Alex opens his restaurant. All proceeds from the event will support the charity, helping us to support vulnerable and disadvantaged young people gain essential work experience, build their confidence and increase their skills. Through individually matched work placements with local employers, we place young people each year into our unique work-based learning and mentoring programme – giving them the opportunity they need to move into sustained employment, apprenticeships or purposeful learning.
