What is WorkingRite?

The WorkingRite programme is a low-risk opportunity for you to try out a potential employee, but it’s also a lifeline to a youngster in your community. We prepare young people for the world of work. We match a trainee (aged between 16 and 24) with you for an extended work experience placement – a crucial first step into the world of work.

Unlike many training providers, we have a very personal approach, ensuring that the young person has a genuine interest in your line of business and has a positive and willing attitude to the kind of tasks you will set them. We support them – and you – throughout.

Recent research indicated that ‘soft skills’ are at the top of employers’ wish lists. Together – the WorkingRite programme and work placement providers can achieve that goal for our young people.

“It’s one of the best initiatives I’ve seen in 15 years
of business. WorkingRite works!”

What To Expect From Us

We sort out all of the paperwork.

We assess the young person, then you can meet them and make the final call.

The young person is placed with you up to 35 hours per week, for 2 to 6 months.

We provide any protective clothing the trainee needs.

Our local Project Co-ordinator supports you and the trainee throughout.

At the end of the placement, there’s no obligation for you to provide an apprenticeship or job, although we hope you will.

What We Need From You

An interest in helping a local young person start their journey into working life.

A willing member of your team to mentor the young person whilst on placement.

We require work placement providers to contribute a small weekly allowance to their trainee.
This shows your trainee you value their input, and teaches them the reward of hard graft.

Who We’ve Worked With

We couldn’t provide our life-changing programme without the commitment, support and mentoring skills of our amazing work placement providers. And they benefit loads too – they get to teach someone exactly how they want a job done, they get to practice their management skills, and they get to know some great young people who could help their business grow.

Here’s what previous work placement providers have said about WorkingRite:

“It was greatly rewarding watching [our trainee’s] confidence and skills growing each week by week. Every member of the team here felt satisfaction at helping him through his programme.”

“It’s rewarding to give back the knowledge that I was once given.”

“I feel it was the best six month interview any employer could have.”
