“It’s difficult to define why I do this job. There are lots of reasons – supporting young people in starting the adventure into adulthood, seeing their confidence grow, being a positive adult role model in their lives, breaking down barriers and watching them become a more self-assured young person – even helping some employers change their perceptions of young people. Young people face many challenges when trying to enter the workplace and if I can play even a small part in giving them the self-belief to face those challenges, then my job has been worthwhile.”
The project supports 16 & 17 year olds living across the area. It is designed to help young people not in employment, education or training – who have so far found it difficult to get their foot in the door of employment.
After joining the programme in December 2017, Aidan’s confidence grew throughout his work placement. So much so that in May he successfully secured a job with his placement employer Fraser Bros Butchers of Forres.
