“It’s difficult to define why I do this job. There are lots of reasons – supporting young people in starting the adventure into adulthood, seeing their confidence grow, being a positive adult role model in their lives, breaking down barriers and watching them become a more self-assured young person – even helping some employers change their perceptions of young people. Young people face many challenges when trying to enter the workplace and if I can play even a small part in giving them the self-belief to face those challenges, then my job has been worthwhile.”
When Chelsie first got involved with WorkingRite, she knew what she wanted to do but wasn’t sure how, or if, she could do it. Now, after finishing her work placement at the Highlander Inn in October 2016, she not only loves the job she gained there afterwards, but has also started a catering course at Moray College.
